PlantNet App Reviews

All wrong

Apparently not good for anywhere except France. Deleting it until its world wide. Apparently, at least according to the app, every flower and veggie I planted in my garden are all things that can kill you (oleander) not the cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, or cosmos flowers that I bought.

Terrible app!

The idea behind this app is great but it doesnt work at all. He couldnt even identify simple things like hostas and daylilies. Complete waste of time!

Nice idea...Lousy execution

It did not even recognize common begonia or geranium.

Pointless

This app cant even match an African violet or an orchid.

Annoyed.

I was very excited to use this app, although Ive come to hate it. The search engine, application and sharing of observations made are definitely confusing and inaccurate. There is absolutely no simplicity or helpful interaction with plant names or searches. The validity of whats posted is not validated or resolved through professional opinion nor is the search engine or manual placement of plant names easy to apply. Please change this up! I love the idea and concept of this app! It needs to be made easier for plant lovers that Dont have a keen eye!!

Not worth it

Do NOT download the app PlantNet to your phone or notebook. It does NOT identify plants for you. It gives you incorrect suggestions for you to browse through. These suggestions are nowhere near what you take a picture of. It might be free but it is not worth your time to download.

Not intuitive.

Too many items in the menus are confusing, as they could mean something else. Leaf? Flower? Etc? Leaf or a flower of a particular flower plant or a plant that has only leaves? Confusing. Unintuitive. What does a huge list of completely differently looking plants mean after search results? Terrible.

Apparently plants arent real

This app doesnt even recognize common plants. No results for morning glory, stargazer lily, or periwinkle. Youre better off with a Google image search.

This app stinks

It would be 5* but recognition doesnt work. It didnt even work on a plain banana ( I tried).

Crashes.

Just crashes when you open the little finder.

Awful

Tried and tried and tried all different plants, leaves, flowers - and this app never identified anything correctly. Not even close most of the time.

oopsy

loaded this to give it a try… and it identified my miniature cyclamen as a bougainvillea . Better luck next time?

Lies and doesnt work

Cant identify any plants or flowers and is just a front to find weed

How to contribute?

I am really exited about this app since I love horticulture and want to learn more about the plants around me. How do I contribute a new plant? I cant seem to find my item when I search and also cant figure out how to add it. Is there not a North American plant project?

Why does it need my location when not using the app?

Low review because this is grabbing for more information and battery power than it needs. I have no issue with geolocating the plants in capturing, but why does it need my location when not using the app??

Bogus app

Took a picture of a flower and couldnt do anything else with it. Very disappointing.

Please make North America version!

I am a naturalist in the states and would love to use this for education programs. Are you planning on creating a North America project?

Useless

I was hoping this app would help me to identify a few flowers that I have pictures of. Of the seven different flowers I added pictures of it probably identified zero.

No North American Plants

I didnt bother reading the description, having been given the name of the app when I Googled for "Shazam for plants," so I didnt realize that the app cant identify plants in North America. However, that does not influence this review. I like the fact that you can take pictures of different parts of the plant to aid in identification. This really helps when you have several different flowers that are similar, but their leaves are quite different. On the other hand, using the app seems complicated and non-intuitive. Perhaps because a "group of scientists" was involved?

No North American plants!

It would be nice if this could get a little bit more Wikipedia style to it. Let users add photos and tag them. After failing to identify Azalea, Dogwood, and Southern Pine; I realized there was a problem. It did identify Japanese Wisteria on the first try. Open this up to let users help with identification, use a voting system or something.
